Nornickel jointly with R& P Co. Grasys opened the first-ever in the city methane filling station in Norilsk. While it is running in test mode for a year, specialists will refuel KamAZ trucks and truck-mounted cranes, and upon testing completion they will service heavy machinery and Norilsk city transport.
The construction of gas filling stations is part of the Clean Air Federal Project, a government program aiming to substantially reduce emissions of air pollutants in major Russian industrial centers.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mark Shilykovsky, General Director of JSC Norilsktransgaz; Evgeny Fedorov, Nornickel Vice President and Head of the Energy Division; Stanislav Seleznev, Vice President for Nornickel Ecology and Industrial Safety; Dmitry Karasev, Mayor of Norilsk City, Stanislav Chepel, R&P Co. Grasys Director for CNG Filling Stations.
R&P Co. Grasys have supplied the core process equipment for the above CNG filling station. A freestanding building accommodates major equipment with life support, safety and automatic condensate drain systems.
Therein can be found: ASPRO compressor unit – 2 units, capacity of 1,200 m³/h each, gas treatment unit (automatic) with a three-line priority panel and two 4000-liter gas accumulator banks. The supply scope also includes two-point, two-line ASPRO gas filling stations and inlet valve skid with gas metering unit, odorizer, as well as gas filling stations for mobile vehicle gas refueller.
The station will be capable of filling as near as 300 cars per day from four refueling posts. The total design capacity is about 20 million m³ of compressed natural gas per year. The station is also equipped with a special dispenser to fill mobile refuellers that will deliver environmentally friendly methane to the deserted tundra.
For R&P Co. Grasys this is the first experience of launching a CNG filling station beyond the Arctic Circle, including:
