Cryogenic technology is the only gas separation technology capable of producing high purity (99–99.95%) oxygen for plant requirements. The permissible purity of the oxygen generated by membrane and adsorption units is limited to 50% and 99%, respectively.

General Description
Cryogenic technology is the optimum choice for high oxygen consumption. In general, cryogenic systems are preferable when consumption exceeds 1,000 m³/h because they are more cost effective.
Another advantage of cryogenic oxygen generation units is the ability to produce oxygen in two states: gaseous and liquid. With the alternative technologies (membrane and adsorption), only gaseous oxygen can be generated.
