Grasys Supplied CNG Filling Station Equipment to Gazprom Network in Tymovskoye

24 July 2023

The opening ceremony of the third station of the Gazprom CNG filling station network in Sakhalin Region, AGNKS-1 Tymovskoye, was held by video link from the Far Eastern Green Transport Forum site in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Thу said formal ceremony was attended by representatives of the Sakhalin Region Government and PJSC Gazprom’s single operator for the gas motor fuel market development in Russia, Gazprom Gaz Engine Fuel LLC.

The CNG station runs on equipment supplied by R&P Co. Grasys based on the ASPRO compressor unit. The major station components such as gas accumulator unit, gas treatment facility, inlet valve unit, priority panel and modular container have been developed and built at the Grasys manufacturing site.

Urban-type settlement Tymovskoye is conveniently located for gas engine corridor formation on the federal highway A-393 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk: from the northern producing regions to the region capital. Apart from transit transport, mobile gas tankers that provide compressed natural gas to car parks of settlements along the highway - Nogliki, Smirnykh, Poronaysk, Makarov - may now refuel at the new methane station.

Since opening of the methane filling station in Tymovskoye the total capacity of the Gazprom CNG filling station network in the region has almost reached 18 million m3 of methane per year, which allows for predicting an increase in compressed natural gas consumption by 2 million m3 at the year-end 2023. On its road-map Gazprom Gas Engine Fuel contemplates building four more methane filling stations by the end of 2026 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Korsakov and Poronaysk.

The issue of building new filling stations and transport shift to natural gas is kept under special scrutiny of Sakhalin Region Governor Valery Limarenko. The region provides the broadest package of policies to support gas motor fuel market in the country. Enhanced opportunities for using methane by private car owners and companies are offered under the Gazprom Gas Engine Fuel’s project for cost-free switching to methane known as the People's Fuel.

Gas filling infrastructure in the region is being developed as part of the Sakhalin experiment to achieve carbon neutrality in 2025. Merely for the first six months of 2023 through the use of natural gas, traffic pollution in Sakhalin Region decreased by 10 kilotons of CO2 equivalent and pollutants - by 168 tons.
