Grasys finalized participation in the conference by PJSC Gazprom

11 September 2023

On September 5-8, St. Petersburg hosted a major event in the oil-and-gas sector - innovative and high-tech product introduction conference held by PJSC Gazprom.

Representatives of the administration, subsidiaries and affiliates, developers and manufacturers of products, engineering and scientific centers were engaged in discussing topical issues related to the introduction of emerging technologies equipment and at new construction and reconstruction sites, their application within the framework of production and economic activities of the PJSC Gazprom’s subsidiaries and affiliates. Over 300 professionals specializing in industrial transformation and improvement attended the event.

Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Kotenko, Head of Grasys Hydrocarbon Department, made a presentation “JSC Grasys’ Gas Separation Membranes: Experience in Application and Future Expectations“ where he highlighted the stages of local manufacturing content of membrane elements (ME), reported on cooperation with PJSC Gazprom, commented on the importance of using ME to solve the problems facing oil-and-gas companies, and shared the company’s road map in this direction.

Grasys started development and setting up in-house production of own membranes and membrane elements (ME) in 2018 within the frames of local manufacturing content aiming at using ME as part of helium concentrate membrane separation unit (HCMSU) to pulldown helium content in gas forwarded to the Power of Siberia gas pipeline from the Chayanda oil and gas condensate field of PJSC Gazprom. Since 2022, works have been carried out to develop membranes and MEs for other services and of other sizes, in particular, ME for HBG treatment tasks. So far, pilot MEs have been tested in actual industrial conditions proving separation performance conformance to the required indicators and enabling validated modeling of HBG industrial units, including a broad scope of hydrogen concentration. Efforts are underway to develop membranes and membrane elements for other long-run objectives of hydrocarbon gases treatment.

Whenever required, the manufactured MEs are adapted in schedule sizes for the specific nature of the problems to be handled. This is instrumental in meeting particular challenges most efficiently. A separate business line includes the development of MEs that enable replacement of those by foreign manufacturers, which supply is currently appears infeasible.
